Margaret McArdle Cook, 83, passed away on Monday, August 25,
2014 after a brief illness. She was born November 25, 1930 in Brooklyn,
New York to the late Thomas & Bridget McArdle. After graduating from the
Long Island College of Nursing in 1951 she moved to Jacksonville in 1952
where she began her nursing career that spanned 58 years. Margaret worked
at the old St Luke’s Hospital, the original Blood Bank, and the Macclenny
State Hospital where she retired in 2009 after 46 years.  She married her
husband Edgar Cook in 1953 and had two children Debra and Edgar, Jr.
Margaret remained a loving, faithful and strong partner to Edgar during
their 50 plus years of marriage until his death in May 2004. She was a
founding member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Margaret was a strong
believer in Jesus Christ and raised her two children to love the Lord. She
was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Margaret is
predeceased by her husband, Edgar Cook, Sr. She is survived by her son,
Edgar Cook, Jr. (Susan); daughter, Debra Johnson; grandchildren, Laura
David, John David, Bridget David, Trevor David (Kirsten), Justin Cook
(Amelia), Elizabeth Kelly (Sean), Brooke Vashbinder (Michael); great
grandchildren, Isaiah, Riley, Gabriella, Kathryn, Gavin, Makaila, Hunter,
Everett, Luke, Lucy; and a host of other relatives and friends, she will
be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August
30 at 11AM in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road,
with Pastor Sean Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen
Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-7 PM at
the funeral home along with a Vigil service performed at 7PM by Father Ron
Camarda, 714-1110.
