Lewis Allen Markline, 63


Lewis Allen Markline, 63, of Callahan, passed away
Friday, March 27 at Baptist Hospital. He was born February 2, 1952 in
Havre de Grace, MD to the late Lewis R. Markline and Hester L. Morrison of
Churchville, MD. Lewis served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973 on the
USS Saratoga. He then became a law enforcement officer and served in the
Army and Navy Reserves. Lewis retired from the Naval Reserve in 2002 with
the rank of Chief Petty Officer, his last assignment with the Special
Operations Command as an intelligence analyst. He retired in 2012 from the
Melbourne, FL Police Department as a sergeant in the criminal
investigations division. Prior to working in Melbourne he was a Police
Officer in Bloomfield, NM, a Wyoming Highway Patrolman in Laramie, WY, a
Sheriff’s Deputy in Cecil County, MD and a Baltimore City Police Officer.
Along the way he earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees.
Lewis will be remembered for his kindness, work ethic, compassion towards
others and his love of the Navy. He was an accomplished horseman earning
many trophies in his youth. Survivors include his wife of 35 years,
Rebecca Loller Markline; stepson, Carlton (Erica) Thompson of Martinez,
CA; step-daughter, Carla (Kevin) Wiley of Bear, DE; step-daughter, Kathy
(Bob) Harwood of Ocean Springs, MS; six grandsons, Thomas, John, Kyle,
Colby, Kevin, Connor; sister, Susie (Greg) Walker of Callahan, FL;
brother, Robert (Liz) Markline of Aberdeen, MD; nieces and several
cousins. He will also be missed by his constant companions, Bailey and
Maggie, his rat terriers. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 6
beginning at 12pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin
Road 32218. Interment with military honors will follow in Jacksonville
