Addie Frank (Hammock) Fordham, 91


Addie Frank (Hammock) Fordham, 91, a resident of Taylor
Home for the past six years, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015. She
was born August 25, 1924 in Adrian, GA, as the eldest daughter to the late
Louie Chesley & Claudia Eva (Rowell) Hammock. Addie graduated as
co-valedictorian from Adrian High School, and also lived in Soperton,
Metter, and Savannah before moving to Jacksonville with her family in
1942. In 1951 she married Jean Lawrence Fordham. Addie held positions with
the U.S. Naval Supply Group at NAS Jacksonville, the A&P Company, Ivey’s,
and others, but was most proud of her career as a wife, mother, and
grandmother. She and Lawrence were instrumental in founding, and were
charter members of Highlands United Methodist Church, and they considered
their fellow church members to be their family in Christ. Addie was
predeceased by her husband of 58+ years, J. Lawrence Fordham; brothers,
Roy Hammock, Elwin Hammock, Emory Hammock; sister, Reta Hammock McSwain;
brother in law, Truitt Pharis. Survivors include her son, David Fordham
(Debbie) of Weyers Cave, VA; daughters, Becky Fordham Tison (Luther) of
Demorest, GA, Carolyn Fordham Holloway (Mark) of Tampa, FL; brothers,
Roswell Hammock, Sr., Billy Hammock (Sandra) of Tallahassee, FL; sister,
Nell Pharis of Green Cove Springs; sister in laws, Ouida Hammock,
Georgianne Pionessa, Ruth Hammock, and Sandra Hammock; brother in laws,
Jack McSwain of Lake Junaluska, NC; grandchildren, Allen Fordham of
Denver, CO, Bryan Fordham (Elise) of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Cathryn Fordham of
Fairbanks, AK, Dianna Fordham of Orlando, FL, Joshua Tison of Atlanta, GA,
Scott Tison (Karen) of Flowery Branch, GA; many nieces, nephews, other
family and friends. The family will receive friends Friday, October 9
(TODAY) from 9-9:45am at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road,
714-1110. Interment will follow at 10:30am at the Jacksonville National
Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road 32218, with Scott Tison officiating. A memorial
service and celebration of Addie’s life will follow at 11:30am at
Highlands United Methodist Church, 1955 Broward Road, 32218, with Rev.
Kathy Walther officiating. In lieu of flowers, Addie’s wishes were for
memorial donations to be made to Highlands UMC general fund.
