OCEAN MEMORIAL SERVICE

Joel V. Varn, Jr. passed away May 7, 2016. He was a lifelong, 59 year member in the “American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps” upon his successful completion of the “1957 Summer Recruit Class.” He was continually elected to increased leadership positions, including the corps highest rank of captain for the 1965 season. Most recently, Joel was active for numerous years through April 2016, with the annual “Fish Bait Thompson Charity Golf Tournament.” The Corps will offer their final respects to Joel, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 9am. The service will be held at the Lifeguard Station, 2 Ocean Front North, Jacksonville Beach, FL, and will conclude with Joel’s ashes (symbolic) being scattered over the ocean by fellow lifeguards. At Joel’s final request, his wife Cheryl, and daughters, Vicki Pore’ and Connie Frick welcome your attendance to share in his very special service.
