Walter Jesse Sapp, 91, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born April 19, 1925 in Lakeland, FL to the late Willie & Eva Sapp and had lived in Jacksonville for the past 63 years coming from Lakeland, FL. Walter loved his Lord, his family, church, fishing and gardening. His bountiful garden was well known in the community of Garden City. Many days he could be found leaning on his fence happily giving tips to neighbors on gardening. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Edith; 5 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Survivors include his son, Allen Sapp (Karen); daughters, Patricia Holt (Raymond), Hazel Sapp; sister, Lillie Stanley; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous other family and friends. Walter strove to live his life in accordance with Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) which says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28 at 12pm (visitation beginning at 11am) at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, where Walter was a member, 14402 Salem Church Road, Sydney, FL 33527, with Elders John T. Lewis, Lee Chambers, Mike Newman and Michael Lewis officiating. Internment will follow in Salem Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
