Linda Elaine Chewning, 62, went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 20, 2016. She was born December 4, 1953 in Parkersburg, WV to the late William & Ruby Kapple Gillian. Linda had lived in Jacksonville most of her life, had lived in the Village of Coolville, was a graduate of Coolville School class of 1972 and had an associate’s degree from college. She was a member of Old Plank Road Baptist Church, loved antiques, auctions and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Linda was predeceased by her brothers, Lou and Dick Gillian. Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Alvin “Abbie”; daughters, Melissa McGinley (Carlton), Rachel Barnes, Ellen Miller, Laura Colson; son, Howard Chewning (Paula); sisters, Carol Dunfee (Harry), Donna Reed; brother, Richard Gillian (Ann); grandchildren, Corey (Ashley), James, Willie, BriAnna, Justin, Destiny (Wesley), Katie, Dalton, Lylah; great grandchild, Benny; numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 25 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road 32218, with Rev. Larry McGinley and Rev. Steve McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home, 714-1110.
