Ida Johns Griffis went home to her Heavenly Father Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born in Jacksonville, FL January 13, 1927 and was a long time resident of Maxville, FL. Ida was preceded in death by her daughter, baby girl Griffis; husband, Henry Griffis and a daughter, Sharon L. Griffis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Maxville and worked at Griffis Gas alongside her husband for 57 years. Ida lived for her family, was the matriarch of the Griffis family and for that her family has said she had a VIP pass to Heaven. She couldn’t wait to get through the gates to be with loved ones past. Ida always said, “I’m not worried about where I’m going, I can’t wait to get there.” Survivors include her daughter, Diana Griffis Nazario (Ramon); son, Hank Griffis (Seana); grandchildren, Brian Turner, Davey (Tammy), Dayna and Debra Mosley, Blake (Liza) and Matthew Griffis; great grandchildren, Garrett, Brandon, and Cassidy Stevens, Hannah Mosley, Allena Ray Turner, Evie Ida Griffis; sister, Elsie Johns Cannon; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mayo Hospital Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2 at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Maxville, 8635 Maxville Blvd, 32234 with Brother Richard Fish officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 4-7pm at the church. Services are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, Jacksonville, 714-1110.
