Weldon Lorain Thompson, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was born August 14, 1933 in Monticello, FL to the late Rondeau & Myrtice Thompson. Weldon had lived in Jacksonville for the past 72 years, was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army, a conductor with CSX Railroad for 42 years and will be dearly missed by all. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Regina Ann Thompson; son, Daniel Thompson; daughter, Vicki Thompson; sisters, Vera Wyatt, Miriam Bonds, Frances Burns. Survivors include his son, Clinton Thompson (Jennifer); daughters, Cindy Brickel (David), Sandra Hickerson (Charles), daughter adopted by love, Jana Stearns (Bobby); brothers, A.B. Thompson, T.R. Thompson; grandchildren, Brandy Merchant (Jason), Heather Simpson (Joe), Josh Brickel (Brittany), Brittney Brickel, Allen Thompson, Tianna Thompson, Grace Trombley; great grandchildren, Reed Brickel, Mabrie Brickel, Greyson Cherelus, Ruby Simpson, London Merchant, Lila Merchant; and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 17 at 10am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road 32218, with Tommy Dale Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 9am at the funeral home, 714-1110.
