Betty Jane (Bell) Huckel passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was born April 21, 1934 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late John and Annabelle Ackermann. Betty lived in Jacksonville the past 63 years after coming here from Waukegan, Illinois. She was of the Methodist faith.
She and her first husband, Charles A. Bell, Sr. (deceased), raised three sons Chuck (Angie), Danny and Ronnie. She was a devoted mother to her boys; driving a van full of children to kindergarten, squeezing dollars out of nickels, working in the concession stand at Highlands Little League and always encouraging, supporting and cheering her boys on in school and sports. She later worked for and retired from Power & Pumps, Inc. serving as a Purchasing and Receivable Collections Clerk. In 1989 she married Milton (Larry) Huckel (deceased) and they enjoyed one another’s company for 24 years cruising Heckscher Drive, riding the merry go-round in St Augustine, cheering on the Gators and spending time with her family.
She loved her eight grandchildren: Ben (Claire), Kat, Ronnie (deceased), Drew, Jeremy, Leah, Amanda, Sarah and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-brother Edward Geiger.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM with visitation at 1:00 PM at Cedar Bay Funeral Home,405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, 714-1110.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam road, Jacksonville, FL.,32257, in memory of Betty Huckel.
