Phyllis Ann Savidge, 61, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 following a battle with lung cancer, a battle she waged with courage, grace and love. She was born March 29, 1956 in Cambridge, MA to the late William & Doris Harrington. Phyllis had lived in Jacksonville for the past 37 years coming from Greensboro, NC, was a graduate of Burlington High School class of 1974 and was of the Catholic faith. She left home at 19 and went to Oklahoma City, where she met Michael and pursued a career as an Air Traffic Controller with the F.A.A. Phyllis’s first assignment was at Lebanon airport in NH. She & Michael moved to the Winston Salem, NC area, later to Miami, FL and eventually settled in Jacksonville, FL where she worked at Craig Airport until 1986 when she had her son and became a stay at home mom. In 1998 Phyllis began a 2nd career as an Administrator in Human Resources at the Mayo Clinic where she remained until she retired in 2014. Phyllis loved cruising, jewelry making, oil painting, cycling, bowling, kayaking and was devoted to her family and dogs. She was a beloved, loving wife, mother, sister, friend and will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Michael; son, Mark Savidge; sisters, Donna Lewis (Frank), Sheila Semeraro (Joseph); numerous other family and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 5 at 9:30am at the committal shelter in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd 32218 with Deacon David Belanger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 714-1110. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
