Michael Vernon McGuire, 71, passed away in his home, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family on Christmas Day 2017. He was born June 13, 1946 in Jacksonville, FL, where he lived most of his life. Mike graduated from Englewood High School class of 1964, was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army and had retired from SJRPP. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sky diver. Mike enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He loved life, lived it to its fullest and will be missed. Mike was predeceased by his parents and younger brother, Bruce Browning. Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Pennie; son, Major John Spencer McGuire (ret.)(Carol); sister, Patti McGuire King (fiancé Lynn Graves); half-brother, Casey McGuire; half-sister, Cindy Wright (Norman); granddaughter, Lily; 3 nephews and families; special recognition to his niece, Allie Wright (Daniel); great niece, Rebekah; numerous other family and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 13 at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Rd 32218 (714-1110) with Pastor Virgil Jerrell officiating. Interment was by cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Association.
