Nathaniel David Helmuth, Sr., 36, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was born July 24, 1981 in Mishawaka, IN, had lived in Middleburg for the past 5 years and was a graduate of Southeast High School class of 1999. Nathaniel earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from the University of Florida, was a veteran and had retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant, was employed by Bank of America-Merrill Lynch. He earned the following awards while serving in the military, 2 Army commendation medals with V-valor, Purple Heart medal, Army achievement medal, Army good conduct medal, National Defense service medal, Global War on Terrorism service medal, Iraq Campaign medal w/star, Army service ribbon, Overseas service ribbon, Combat action badge, Driver and Mechanic badge w/driver tracked vehicle clasp, Driver and Mechanic badge w/driver wheeled clasp. Nathaniel loved spending time with his family, football, cooking barbeque, his truck and will be dearly missed by all. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Warren Culp; grandmother, Rachad Erickson; step grandfather, Victor Erickson. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Kristle Marie (Zamora) Helmuth; son, Nathaniel David Helmuth, Jr.; daughter, Kynlee Abigail Helmuth; service dog, Toby (Tobias McGuilicote); brother, Seth J. Helmuth (Karie); sisters, April Bongiardino (Luke), Sonja Marple; father, Roy Helmuth (Stacy); mother, Diana Godbey (Carl); grandparents, David & Naomi Helmuth; nephew, Isaac Bongiardino; nieces, Riley Marple, Josephine Helmuth, Justynne Helmuth, Juliette Helmuth, Annabel Marple; cousins, Nicholas Helmuth, Erin Smeltzer, Allison Nixon, James Helmuth, Lori Wimer, Barbie Gurley, Ericca Christman, Cory Christman, Raquel Erickson; numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17 at 11:30am at The Church of Eleven22-Mandarin campus, 4911 Losco Rd 32257, with Pastor Ben Phillips officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
