Gayle Coleman Obituary

Gayle Coleman of Orange Park, Florida, passed peacefully on March 28, 2024. She was born in Savannah, Ga. March 18, 1960, and was the daughter of Johnnie P. Coleman and Mildred K. Coleman Campbell. Gayle was of Catholic faith, graduated from Georgia Southern University and she served in the US Coast Guard. Gayle loved her family, fur babies, many friends, helping those in need, crabbing, fishing, and "tinkering" on her car.

Gayle was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Doug Coleman, brother-in-law, Terry Morris, and grand-niece, Kelsey.

Gayle is survived by a sister, Johnnie Ann Morris; Three brothers, Robert Coleman (Carla), John Coleman (Kristin), Chuck Couture (Lisa), and seven nieces & nephews. She had many close friends including a special friend, Vondolyn “V" Wright-Morgan, who along with her brother Robert held Gayle's hand until she took her last breath.

Her family would like to thank the HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital ICU Doctors and Nurses who tenderly cared for her during her stay and transition.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, located at 405 New Berlin Road, on Friday, May 3 at 1 pm. The family will receive friends at noon at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.

The family suggests remembrances be made in Gayle's memory to Clay Behavioral Health Center or Hero’s on The Water Northeast Florida Chapter.
